On the one hand, ...I’m really torn on this subject. On the one hand, it's ripe for "abuse" or perceived abuse. What if the "golden boy/girl" gets an award - it will always be tainted with the thought that they just got it because of who they were friends with. And even if it is justifiable, it's often hard to give more value to one unique outstanding situation over another. I was involved in a situation with a property management company that dealt with a hurricane affecting over a dozen properties. In that circumstance, there were plenty of people who went "above and beyond," and to give an award to just one made the others feel as though their sacrifice wasn't appreciated. <BR/><BR/>On the flip side, employees should be recognized if they get hit with particularly unique challenges and are able to handle them with skill and speed. Those “goosebump” moments should be encouraged, in my opinion. <BR/><BR/>I guess without really putting too much thought into it, I would attempt to make the recurring awards be more objective based upon data and add in extraordinary awards if they are truly extraordinary.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
