When explaining to uninitiated folk, I always start out by saying that facebook is a network based around people and twitter is a network based around ideas.Matt Dhttp://www.mynewplace.com/blognoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4687788912434276736.post-86719440255037081602009-04-27T00:27:00.000-04:002009-04-27T00:27:00.000-04:00David-

If you're not going to use a platform specifically for a purpose then don't try to combine it with another to save time. People just get confused, or like in your case annoyed. Thanks for the comment.

MjMarkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13125690808935981723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4687788912434276736.post-49552449343322956812009-04-24T16:32:00.000-04:002009-04-24T16:32:00.000-04:00I totally agree, Mark. Right now I'm suffering through a vendor who linked his Twitter account with his Plaxo account. I get to read about his right winged attacks on the president and probably more suited for his friends.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4687788912434276736.post-17610859318763708602009-04-20T14:45:00.000-04:002009-04-20T14:45:00.000-04:00Jeremy-

While a majority of tweets that most people post don't make sense on facebook, I agree there are somethings you might want to share on both platforms. This is a much better way to share your tweets on facebook instead of the syndication method the Twitter facebook application provides.

The reason I have made my argument black and white is because I strongly feel the two applications have different purposes and should be used differently. For example, I wouldn't "friend" random Nintendo Wii fanatics on facebook, however, I may choose to follow some Wii nerds on Twitter and nerdly share Wii stories, links, and thoughts.

I realize everyone uses these tools differently, but I believe if you have a strategy for each you will have more efficiency using social media. My strategy may not be best for everyone, but it makes sense to me. Twitter = My Nerd Friends (I have yet to meet in person) / Facebook = Friends / LinkedIn = Business Connections . All the other platforms just bring noise into my social media world, but I feel pretty efficient with my connections with this strategy.

Thanks again for the comment.

MjMarkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13125690808935981723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4687788912434276736.post-59921483017569923552009-04-20T12:02:00.000-04:002009-04-20T12:02:00.000-04:00I think you've made your argument too black or whi...I think you've made your argument too black or white...all or nothing.

I use TweetDeck to manage Twitter and it conveniently gives me the option of posting to Facebook or not.

There is content, such as interesting links, or notifications about a blog post I've authored, that I WANT to share with both Twitter and my Facebook friends.Jeremy Hiltonhttp://socialenchilada.comnoreply@blogger.com
